Kitchen Remodel Timeline: What to Expect Week by Week

One of the most common questions we hear: how long will my kitchen remodel take? Here's a realistic week-by-week breakdown based on a standard remodel (new cabinets, countertops, flooring, lighting, backsplash) for a typical Long Island kitchen.

Weeks 1-3: Design & Planning. Your project starts with an in-home consultation where we measure, photograph, and discuss your goals. Our designer creates 2-3 layout options with 3D renderings. You'll select cabinets, countertops, flooring, and fixtures. We finalize the plan, pull permits, and order materials.

Weeks 4-5: Demolition & Rough Work. We set up dust barriers and your temporary kitchen station. Old cabinets, countertops, flooring, and fixtures come out. Plumbing and electrical rough-in happens now—moving pipes, adding circuits, and installing junction boxes. If there's structural work (wall removal, beam installation), it happens here.

Weeks 6-7: Cabinet Installation & Flooring. New cabinets go in first—this is the foundation of your new kitchen. Crown molding and trim follow. Then flooring is installed (we work around the cabinets, not under them, for easier future replacement).

Week 8: Countertop Fabrication & Install. After cabinets are in, we laser-template your countertops. Fabrication takes 7-10 days. Installation is typically done in a single day—including sink cutout, edge finishing, and backsplash preparation.

Weeks 9-10: Finishing Touches. Backsplash tile, painting, lighting fixtures, hardware, appliance installation, and final plumbing connections. Final inspections happen here. Then a thorough cleaning and your walk-through with a punch list.

Total: 8-10 weeks for a standard remodel. Smaller projects (countertop swap, cabinet refacing) take 2-4 weeks. Larger projects with structural changes take 12-14 weeks. We provide a detailed schedule before work begins and update you weekly.
